Appendix N of Goth Music

    1. An honest mistake, but somehow I don't like the Sister as much as the above bands anyway!

  3. Fab. I'd have to add Corpus Delicti, Lisa Gerard's solo stuff and maybe Love is Colder Than Death to my version of this.

    1. And Sopor Aeternus of course.

    2. Corpus Delecti's "Saraband" was always a favorite song in the London goth clubs. Fond memories there. D'ya know I used to be a really big Sopor Aeternus fan, but they've fallen off my radar over the last bunch of years because the constant stream of limited edition fancy box sets that were getting progressively less fancy was kind of wearing on me.

  4. How about:

Killing Joke - Night Time(1985) Love Like Blood

And maybe a bit further afield:
Tiamat - Skeleton Skeletron(1999) Brighter than the Sun

    And even further:
    Cocteau Twins - Treasure(1984) Lorelei

    1. All good stuff. (Though I don't know any Tiamat as I'm not much of a metal guy, really.)

  5. Great list. I'd have to add some Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim, and Clan of Xymox.

  6. It's almost astonishing to see anyone mention goth music on the internet in 2012, and then list music that actually -is- goth. Thanks Jack :)

    1. Well, I am a bit old and nostalgic, according to my D&D preferences at least.

  8. This makes me happy. I own about half of these, and the other half I don't. Take me back to my college days (back in Goth's heyday in the year...2000...okay, so I was a bit late, but still). Thanks!

    1. I trade emails with Sam from Black Tape now and then, he's still putting stuff out there!

  10. I have no idea what any of you are talking about. I recognize Cure, but this all went down during my Van Hagar and Metallica period. How I got from there to Swing and Ska is anyone's guess.

*looks at his wardrobe of black jackets* I'm such a poseur... huh... that gives me an idea for a post...

  11. I have to join the "what, no Sisters" chorus as well as a lot more, but I can say this. I have played every one of these on the radio back in my days spinning Lessons Dark Etiquette and reading the list made me wish this Wednesday I was going to be in the booth at the station.

    1. PS. Excellent BtfaBG choice. That remains my favorite album by Sam and is, interestingly, the only time I saw them live (one of two warm up shows for Projekt Fest given Lisa was pregnant at the time). Plus, that particular song of one of the best on the album. I also have a fondness for the cover of Shadow of A Doubt on it as well.

    2. Herb, I was at that show too! Philly, right?

    3. Nope, they did a warm-up in Mass in a VFW hall, believe it or not. I was scared Lisa was going to pop right there.

The DJ (who was one of the DJs for Bound Hartford) had the hall longer than the show so we stayed and danced. For a while Elisabeth even came out onto the floor and danced with us.

      Great show.

Wasn't the Philly show Projekt Fest proper?
