What Happens Inside the Red Room?

What Happens Inside the Red Room?

d6 There's always something off about a room painted blood-red, right?
1 Temporal Slippage – when the characters enter this room they see the occupants replay a seen from the past. The occupants of this room cannot leave it; they are doomed to repeat their motions and statements over and over. Whatever happens in this room has no effect on the course of history—it is merely an echo of the past.
2 Dimensional Tapestry – this room contains a pictorial tapestry depicting a scene that occurs somewhere else. The tapestry may be stepped into; it will transport anyone who steps into it to the vista it portrays.
3 Horror of the Waxworks – this room contains a number of wax models of historic figures. When some triggering condition is met the waxwork models will come to life and attack.
4 The Covered Pit – this room contains a pit that is covered by a trapdoor. If opened, the trapdoor will release a vengeful spirit from the pit. Alternately, the pit might contain a mutant alligator or a similar beast.
5 The Family Portraits – this room contains a number of painted portraits whose eyes follow you no matter where you move within the chamber. If addressed, the portraits will answer questions asked of them.
6 The Haunted Desk – this room contains an ancient wooden desk. Inside one of the desk's drawers is a letter from a long-dead man. If a letter to this man is placed within the drawer, a reply from his specter will appear within it the next day.

  1. Excellent. I think a cool future post could be about what sorts of sinister scenes might show up in a Worlds Between macabre wax museum. Of course, now that I think of it, I could do it for the City as, well.

    1. Okay, I'll do a table for wax museums. (That didn't take much arm-twisting, did it?)

    2. Maybe it was my tone of menace?

  2. 7. The characters must speak the magic word or they will become hypnotized by the patterns on the floor or walls. They next thing they know is that they are waking up in the exact same positions, but wearing each other's clothes. None of their stuff is missing, however.

    8. The room is empty, at first. But after a minute or two of exploration by the PCs, the GM cues "Hotel California." The room and everything in it changes to black and white, and a huge banquet table, all decked out for a feast, wavers into being, including those attending, and servants. The person at the head of the table [GMs discretion as to who] bids them to sit. Soon the main course is brought to the table on a huge covered platter. A servant removes the platter, revealing mounds of freshly roasted meat, topped by the roasted head of the Master of the House. The vision fades. Did the PCs just witness the past...or the future?
